We responded with a concept that truly focuses on the benefits of real fruit in a fun and playful way, appealing to both kids and kids at heart. “Schwarz Wine Company is a boutique winery based in Bethany, Barossa Valley. Winemaker Jason Schwarz appointed Sage to create a brand to help sell a small quantity of Cabernet Shiraz he had specially aged from his 2006 harvest. CS06 was the memorable name he conceived. Our brief was to develop a cost effective label that would stand out from the crowd and attract consumers aged 18-35yrs. Our eye-catching solution is inspired by stenciled type that appears on wine barrels to indicate the toasting level and vintage. This is an idea that can be applied to market small quantities Schwarz produces in the future.”

“Paromi Artisan Tea Company came to R/West looking for a complete brand overhaul. Their product was premium and unique, but lacked shelf presence and storytelling. Through new packaging, including a custom glass bottle, we painted the picture of Paromi’s worldwide search for unmatched ingredients. The brand revival made an immediate impact as Whole Foods picked up Paromi across most of the continental United States.”

“After five years in operation, Schooner EXACT Brewing Company approached Taphandles to update and expand on their master brand logo. Taphandles created a new brand system that allows for more flexibility while maintaining the ties to the nautical heritage of Seattle that inspired the original brand. At the same time, the new system better reflects their mature and growing brewery without forgetting where they came from. As Schooner EXACT begins to roll out their new brand, they have added bottled beer to their line-up for the first time. Taphandles updated their beer art and created 22-ounce bottle labels for their King Street Brown Ale, 3 Grid IPA, and Hoppy Holidays Winter Ale, with the goal of elevating the design to compliment the new master brand system and the quality of the beer. Each label is built on the same framework that allows for variation in color and the artwork unique to each style to stand out on the shelf.”

Designed by Echo Brand Design | Country: United Kingdom

“Joe’s Tea Company is the brainchild of Joe Kinch, a former tea supply chain manager, who identified an opportunity to create a new product that combines high-quality leaf blends from Sri Lanka, with an interesting twist, to appeal to the newfound and more adventurous younger tea drinker: “Its niche is offering organic fine teas without fuss, or any of the bravado or pretentiousness normally associated with premium products.”

“The design took its inspiration from traditional ‘City of London Liveries’ protecting the professionalism of key trades (e.g. the candlestick maker, butcher, baker) and added a contemporary twist. Led by Echo’s in-house designer and illustrator James Pearce, a range of ‘Joe’s crests’ were created to characterise individual flavours and enhance the expertise behind each blend.

A cut-out on the side of the packaging allows a glimpse of the whole leaves Joe uses to maximise flavour and creates a window into the heart of Joe’s Tea where the illustrations continue with a bespoke ‘Joe’s Map of London’.

The Joe’s Tea Company range consists of ten different blends including quirky re-inventions of Earl Grey and English Breakfast, and flavourful explorations of fruits, herbs and even chocolate. All promise to ‘excite and surprise everyone who loves a brew’.”

“This is a concept redesign of the soap packaging for The Bakewell Soap Company who produce, amongst other things, beautifully coloured blocks of handmade soap specially blended for different skin types. Sadly the existing packaging doesn’t live up to the quality of the product with a poor design and cheap printing.

The DZINE MAFIA packaging has brightened the pack giving a more solid brand feel, including a new simpler, more classic logo working alongside a slab-serif font in a handprinted finish. Bespoke illustrations sit top and bottom to help differentiate each variety, resulting in a gift or luxury treat with a more artisan and individual feel.”

Designed by Just Design | Country: South Africa

“Born as a response to the one-dimensional beer culture in South Africa, The Devil’s Peak Brewing Company (DPBC) produces brews unlike any other beer you’re likely to find locally. The designs reflect the intricacy of the different beer styles and the brewer’s passion to create beers with unique character and depth. Craftsmanship, idiosyncratic style and the underlying belief of ‘truth to material’ – where the insides inform the outside – equals 4 distinctive styles with 4 equally standout designs. Recently released, the designs are already winning public attention at beer appreciation festivals and on Facebook and twitter.”
