“Hangar 1 is made in California using artisanal methods including fresh fruit infusions and distillation in Holstein Stills.  It is this meticulous and artisanal process that inspired Hangar One’s newest packaging line, featuring an apothecary-style bottle with embossed measurements along the side and a black stopper cap- reminiscent of a measuring chemistry beaker.

While the scientific design of the bottle lends itself to another era, the sleek shape and unique look render it decidedly more modern.

The textured labels are all printed in a distinctive design, giving it a crafted feel with a small story about each flavor variety.  The labels also feature an embossed aircraft logo along with hand-drawn visuals, including fruit used, for each offering.”

“New York branding and design agency Mode Design Group has designed a custom, limited edition SKYY Vodka bottle for the 2012 holiday season. The new-to-world bottle decoration includes a flocked baroque velvet pattern adorning the trademark blue bottle, inviting you to touch the supple design. This innovative bottle design is the first flocked bottle to hit the spirits market, and changes the dynamic of how bottle design can be approached. Mode’s groundbreaking design blended the worlds of high fashion and spirits utilizing the baroque themed pattern with a tangible element of sensuous velvet to create an inviting design.

“We incorporated the baroque pattern into the design because over a year ago when we began the process we felt strongly about velvet baroque patterns to connote style and elegance.  However, it had never been done before so we had to innovate the technique.  Fast forward to launch time for the SKYY holiday bottle, and baroque the biggest trend at all the fashion shows. So while we were planning our bottle, the big fashion houses were thinking the same thing with their clothing lines.  Most of the major designers are integrating baroque details into their collections. Adding the velvet texture to the bottle made it sexy, touchable and holiday-appropriate, and fortunately, on-trend.” Says MDG Creative Director Gabrielle Rein.

The bottles hit shelves in October. Proceeds of the bottle sales will benefit the amfAR organization, dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research.”

This time it is the gold-shining limited edition ‘Lithuanian Vodka – Black Edition’, which was introduced 2011 at the end of December. Lithuanian design agency Studija Creata was inspired by Lithuania’s history and national heritage. Rhombus and herringbones, combined from little squares, are very common patterns in Lithuanian folk art. Although reference to these national motifs gained more modern forms – mysterious past reflections were transformed into modern art.”

Cartils, one of the world’s first branding and packaging design agencies, has developed a limited edition for DANZKA Vodka. The premium vodka brand’s new bottle will be available to travel retail from October 2011 and underlines Cartils’ track-record for creating effective special edition designs for the beverage sector.

Cartils was asked by DANZKA, owned by Bélvèdere Scandinavia A/S, to reinforce the vodka brand’s Danish roots with the new limited edition design. Cartils’ design solution was a clean brand presentation that, combined with a high level of refinement, offers the brand a bold and premium feel. In acknowledgement of DANZKA’s strong local heritage, the design concentrates on the image of the Danish flag, creating impact while expressing the brand’s iconic Danish style.

Well-known for its aluminium packaging and minimalistic design approach, DANZKA has become an easily recognizable style icon among the Bélvèdere portfolio of brands. Alongside its focus on visibility, heritage and stopping power, the brief for Cartils was to create a limited edition that would spark new interest around the brand as well as arouse curiosity and desire.

“DANZKA’s aluminium bottle provided us with a unique and exciting canvas for this limited edition design. We approached the design work with focus on typical Scandinavian design values such as simplicity, minimalism and functionality, which we feel the DANZKA brand is an expression of. The result is a collectible limited edition that we believe will have strong consumer appeal in travel retail outlets across the globe.”, said Gaston van de Laar, Group Director of Client Services at Cartils.

“The special edition of “Lithuanian Vodka Gold” designed with modern ethnographical symbols is an unexpected link between yesterday and today. The old ethnographical symbols – oak leaves and lily flowers – have been revived. Lilies are associated with femininity. This symbol is often seen woven into compositions of the tree of life on dower chests. In the Lithuanian folklore the oak is associated with masculinity, strength and courage. From ancient times warriors would be presented with crowns of oak leaves, and now they are given to winners of sports competitions. Therefore the female and male elements are intertwined in the design, while the Lithuanian spirit is emphasised by the colours of the Lithuanian flag – yellow, green and red.”

“Altitude Spirits tasked me with creating a consumer package for Vodka 14, their organic craft-distilled vodka, that reflected the qualities of the product itself: exceptional quality, purity, and sustainability. The bottle this design process yielded is a tall, elegant  and simple form, decorated with just black, white, and grey pigments. Lots of undecorated space on the bottle highlights the exceptional clarity of the product. The artwork itself is strong but understated, big bold type in a face cut just for this package alongside the hand-drawn mountain motif. Best of all the entire package is recyclable in most municipal recycling programs here in the United States. The closure is aluminum and recyclable synthetic rubber, the safety seal is recyclable PETG instead of the usual non-recyclable PVC, and the bottle is glass decorated with nontoxic ceramic pigments silkscreened on.”

In addition to developing highly innovative concepts for gift packaging (for future release), Aloof were also briefed to refine the existing standard gift box.

We conceived a way of making the tree design appear more 3-dimensional and tactile, and sourced a more premium metallic carton board. To make production more accurate and efficient, we replaced the existing caselined box with a sleek carton and made the signature blue seal an integral part of the design.”
